The Forty-niner Miners and their Prima Donna Nightingales is a colorful and historical show about the celebrity opera singers who came out West during the 1849 Gold Rush and "struck it rich."  They were treated like rock stars are treated today.  Promoted by P.T. Barnum, they were paraded through the streets and people wept in despair when they departed (one of them with half a million dollars in her pocket!)  The show is performed in costume with a coloratura soprano, a mezzo, a baritone, piano, flute, and a narrator.  The entertaining program includes ballads, operatic arias, and duets.  This show was performed at Weil Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City to a full house with a standing ovation.
